Per KOTA TV: Pennington County Emergency Management is now able to get information out to the public using the Public Safety Hub website.
The Hub will help solve the confusion that can occur during an emergency by giving the public near real-time information as it comes in from public safety agencies that are out in the field. The site’s interactive map will give more information in the case of a wildfire, flash flood, or the case of an evacuation. The website will even give information about road work.
If an emergency alert does go out the message will contain a link.
Deputy Director for the Rapid City-Pennington County Emergency Management Alexa White stated, “So, that link, when we do send out those life-threatening type messages, that link will take you right to this public safety hub page. Where we can put more information and more detail about what you may need to know or actions you may need to take.“
Pennington County will be running an alert and warning test on Wednesday, March 20 at 1:30 p.m. The alert will be sent to cell phones, weather radios, outdoor warning sirens, and messages to subscribers.
