About the Speaker:
Terry Liggins:
Terry Liggins is a South Dakota ACEs and Resilience Master Trainer and graduate of The University of South Dakota where he completed his Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice and Master of Arts in Nonprofit Administration. Professionally he is an educator and provides direct support, crisis care, and coaching services to men and women in reentry through his company The Hurdle Life Coach. Beyond his education, Terry’s advocacy work is driven and informed by his personal experience as a justice-involved juvenile in North Omaha, NE, and as a formerly incarcerated adult who has successfully navigated reentry. He is a founding member of South Dakota’s Equity and Justice Coalition, coordinator of the local Smart Justice Advisory Council, and partners with several local nonprofits serving at-risk youth, vulnerable adults, and families. Passionate about addiction management support services, empowering and encouraging survivors of childhood trauma, and engaging in community-based initiatives, Terry keeps busy collaborating with nonprofit groups, government agencies, and community partners spearheading the efforts for trauma-informed transformation in the Criminal Justice System.
