February 24, 2024 @ 1:00 pm - 3:30 pm
The Dahl Arts Center and the Rapid City Public School Foundation, in conjunction with the Rapid City Youth City Council, is hosting the ‘Every Student Fed and Ready to Learn Teen Art Auction’ this Saturday from 1-3:30 p.m. at the Dahl Arts Center, 713 Seventh Street.
The event is a silent art auction with all proceeds from the event donated and applied to the lunch debt at Rapid City Area Schools.
Dozens of art pieces have been collected for the auction with a goal of collecting 60 or more pieces by the time the auction event is held.
The auction event will also include music by student performers. A brief program with comments from community, foundation and school officials is also planned for 3 p.m. with winning bids announced at 3:15 p.m.
The Rapid City Public School Foundation is raising funds to retire the negative lunch balances of Rapid City Area Schools students.
The Rapid City Youth City Council is supporting the effort and many council members are providing time and effort to support and promote the event.
“It’s a great way to show appreciation for young artists and at the same time, help feed students in need,” said Youth City Council member Lila Tate Win M Crosswhite, chairwoman of the art auction committee. Blixa Broussard and Kanin Booth of the youth council are serving as marketing co-chairs for the event.
