The Black Hills Institute of Geological Research (BHI) is celebrating 50 years of spectacular discoveries, amazing stories, and world-class fossils.
BHI was founded in 1974 by Peter Larson and James A. Honert. Later, after Jim’s departure, Robert Farrar became a co-owner and partner in BHI. Together, these two individuals, each bringing a unique set of skills and expertise, built a remarkable collection of geological and paleontological specimens.
There will be a screening and post-screening panel discussion of Dinosaur 13 at the Elks Theatre. This Emmy-winning documentary chronicles BHI’s role in the discovery of the largest and most complete T. rex fossil ever discovered. Visit bhigr.com/events for more details on the anniversary celebration.
