Going Batty for Books at Jewel Cave

Black Hills Parks & Forests Association (BHPFA) and Jewel National Monument will be Going “Batty” for Books on Saturday, May 14, 2022! From 10 am until 4 pm there will be family friendly activities including book signings with local authors Connie McKinney and Pat Schultz, a bat house building workshop, story book hike, and bat related crafts and games. All events are free and will take place at the Jewel Cave National Monument Visitor Center.
From 10 am to 4 pm, there will be self-guided children’s crafts and activities including a story book hike of Baxter Saves the Day along the .25-mile Roof Trail.
Connie McKinney, the author of Wildflowers of the Black Hills, an easy to use field guide for the wildflower enthusiast will be available from 10 am- 12 pm for book signings and wildflower questions.
Pat Schultz, the author of Baxter Saves the Day a children’s story about a Townsend’s big-eared bat that lives at Jewel Cave National Monument will be available from 1pm- 3pm to sign books and will do a reading of her story at 1:30pm.
Limited spots are available for the bat house building workshop at 11am, visit www.blackhillsparks.org to register.
