When 400,000 men couldn’t get home, home came for them. February’s Book to Film Movie is the powerful 2017 film “Dunkirk.” See it on our big screen Friday, February 16 from 6:30 – 8:15 p.m. at the downtown library (610 Quincy Street, upstairs)
Trapped on the beach with their backs to the sea and facing a fierce battle during World War II, Allied soldiers from Belgium, the British Empire and France are surrounded by the German Army. Written, directed and produced by Christopher Nolan, the film stars Kenneth Branagh, Tom Hardy and Mark Rylance.
The film’s official historian, Joshua Levine provides a comprehensive account of the events in his novel “Forgotten Voices of Dunkirk.” His new novel “Dunkirk: The History Behind the Major Motion Picture” explores the real lives of the soldiers, airmen and civilians at the Battle of Dunkirk. Popcorn and beverages will be served. Rated PG-13.
