Amy Scams Scammer Who Tried to Book Her for Podcast

Last week Amy shared that she got an email from a Teen Mom podcast asking her to be a guest. The Bobby Bones Show suspected it was a potential scammer situation based on scams that have been going around lately claiming similar things.

But the show wanted to try to “scam the scammer” so she went through with setting up a Zoom meeting. There was a lot of issues in the studio at the time of the meeting because no one wanted to plug in the Zoom interview or click any links on their computer. At one point the show almost entered the information on a work computer, but they got concerned about hacking the whole system. Bobby suggested Amy send the potential scammer a Zoom link so she had control over what was happening on the Zoom. To the show’s surprise, the scammer still went through with his planned and joined her Zoom link. However, he never joined on video, he said it was an audio only call.

The potential scammer was asking Amy to create a live event on her Facebook page. but couldn’t seem to get his story straight and kept changing up what he wanted her to do. When Amy asked where he is from he said “India” and she told him she liked his accent, and he said he didn’t like it. Amy at one point thought he might be legit and she told the show she had done something with a Facebook Live Event before. They got worried she was going to fall for the scam right in front of them, but Morgan jumped in to talk back to the potential scammer as “Amy’s manager.” She started to push back on things he was requesting and the guy proceeded to say “don’t be scared,” “you’re safe.” That’s when the red flags started flying and then the guy saw Amy and Morgan laughing and told them this isn’t “fun,” the meeting isn’t meant to be fun, it’s serious. Amy tried to joke back with the guy, but then he left the Zoom meeting.
