If you’ve watched the music video for Chris Janson‘s “Whatcha See Is Whatcha Get,” you likely recognized the superstar guest appearance by Dwayne Johnson.

Dwayne, who had dreamed of being a country singer at one point, is now buddies with Chris and the two had been talking about working together at some point. That’s why when the opportunity to be in Chris’ music video came up, Dwayne jumped on board.

“I made friends with Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson in late 2022 and we’ve been friends since, and we’ve been looking for a reason to do something together musically or collaboratively or what have you. And so I said, ‘Why don’t you join me on the video? You’re kind of this, you’re this kind of guy,'” Chris recalls to ABC Audio. “And he said, ‘Cool, let’s do it.’ So we shot the video with one of the biggest global superstars in the world, who’s now a very close friend of mine.”

“The video’s killer. It’s authentic, it’s real, we’re not acting,” the singer says. “We’re just doing our thing, you know, and had a damn good time doing it. We really did.”

Next up on Chris and Dwayne’s friendship bucket list? Taking the Grand Ole Opry stage together.

“We got some things we’re looking at. We talked a few weeks ago. We’re going to hopefully finally make our Opry debut together in ’25,” Chris shares. “So, something to look forward to.”

“Whatcha See Is Whatcha Get” is now in the top 30 of the country charts.

Meanwhile, Dwayne’s latest movie, Moana 2, in which he voices the demigod Maui, is in movie theaters now.
