Koe Wetzel stopped by The Bobby Bones Show to talk about his recent success, the time someone burglarized his home, and his feelings on Christmas.
Wetzel has gone more mainstream in recent months, and Bones asked if it’s been a weird experience for him. He admitted not much has changed, but he hasn’t had time to take a step back and look at everything, really it feels like he’s doing more interviews and more grandmas are coming to his shows. He added that the “grandmas” seems to be shocked at what they see when attending his concerts. He’s appreciated TikTok because people there can relate to him, but they also haven’t seen him grinding it out for the last 10 years in Texas.
Bobby Bones wanted to do Intimate Questions with Koe Wetzel and that’s exactly what went down. Bones asked the best thing that’s happened to him in his life so far to which Wetzel responded with growth and how he’s been learning from the mistakes he’s made. The growth has not only helped him musically as an artist, but also as a person. Bones asked what he would want the next 5 years of his life to look like if they were a chapter in a book and Wetzel would want the chapters to be about how his empire started to grow and him working up to his ultimate goal. Then once he gets to his goal, starting to fell out all the kinks and perfect it. The next question asked what makes him feel the most alive and Wetzel admitted it’s probably alone time. Whenever he has time alone, it allows him to reflect on everything. He’s spent a lot of time out in the woods the last couple of weeks by himself and that has given him time to reflect and reset, which he needed because he’s been around people a whole lot this year.
Wetzel is a really big Christmas guy, he shared that his family didn’t have much growing up, but his parents always made Christmas a big deal. So he’s the person who is celebrating Christmas at the start of November. He has a new holiday EP out called Wetzel’s Wonderland.
There’s a story about Wetzel’s home being burglarized and Bones asked for some more details on that situation. Wetzel got back to his house after being on the road and noticed some of his watches were missing, and he couldn’t find them anywhere. He got a call from the HVAC company that had been at his house in recent weeks to put in digital thermostats. The company said they had just fired a guy who was accused of stealing a bunch of stuff from the houses he worked on. Turns out the HVAC company recovered one of Wetzel’s Rolex watches. Not only that, Wetzel had nice liquor bottles, lots of cash, two Rolex watches, Gucci shoes and sunglasses, and cologne missing. He had to get with the cops who recovered the majority of his stuff, but he never got his cash back. One of the Rolex watches was pawned, but the guy only got $1200 for it which shocked Wetzel. He was able to get that back from the pawn shop.
While in studio, Wetzel performed his song “High Road” that’s set to go number 1 on country radio.
