10-year-old Oliver Edwards came up with an innovative solution to the city’s homelessness issue called “Free On A Tree.”
The idea sparked when flooding hit his town and he was given a homework challenged that asked him to come up with a way to help his community. He told ABC of Northern Tasmania, “I thought of Free On A Tree and I talked with mum about it and she thought it was a good idea.”
The young boy along with the help of his mother Cathy set up donation points at various locations where people can drop their second-hand coats and then they will be picked up and hung on trees in public spaces around the city. On the coat reads “Free On A Tree: “If you need this, it’s yours.”
