What do songs like “International Harvester”, “I Love This Life”, “When She Cries”, “I Make My Own Sunshine” and “Baby Girl” have in common? They were all written by songwriters that will be performing at the fifth annual Wild West Songwriter’s Festival, October 13-15th in historic Deadwood, SD.
Dubbed one of the “best live music festivals for fans” and one of the “top ten songwriter’s festivals you don’t want to miss” the three day event co-sponsored with the Deadwood Chamber & Visitors Bureau will feature songwriters that have produced hits for everyone from Sugarland, George Straight, Tim McGraw, Hunter Hayes, Miranda Lambert, Kenny Chesney and more recently Steven Tyler just to name a few. The event will also feature one of the greatest songwriting duos in music history when America will take the stage on Friday night.
The festival will feature three days of “writer’s rounds” which will feature songwriters performing hits they have written and telling the story behind the music. These rounds are fan favorites most notably because they are able to listen to songs that have sold millions across the world in very intimate venues throughout the historic town of Deadwood.
“This is by far one of my favorite events every year,” said Deadwood Mountain Grand General Manager Susan Kightlinger. “The songwriters are amazing performers in their own right and are always so accommodating and friendly. I cannot recommend this event to people who love music enough.”
Already slated to appear and perform are Kristian Bush of Sugarland, Alyssa Bonagura, Danny Myrick, Dean Alexander, James Elliott, John Northrup, Krista Marie, Marc Beeson and Megan Linville with more special guests to be added prior to the event.
In addition to the popular writer’s rounds, the event will also feature local rounds for regional artists as well as demo panels, artist development, co-writing and publisher panels for aspiring artists and publishers. The event culminates Saturday night with an all-star jam that features all the artists on one stage at the Deadwood Mountain Grand event center.
All of the Thursday, Friday and Saturday writer’s rounds are free to the public, tickets for America are on sale now through Ticketmaster.com or the Deadwood Mountain Grand Company Store at 877-907- GRAND and $15 tickets to the Saturday night Jam will go on sale on Friday, August 19 th through the same outlets or at the door.
