Returning from sellout performances featuring the music of Thelonious Monk and Miles Davis, the JAS Quintet will be joined by an all-star crew of regional jazz musicians to perform the music of America’s premier jazz composer, Duke Ellington. Hostess Katrina Lehr-McKinney will guide the audience through the life and times of Duke Ellington while the band plays iconic selections such asRockin’ in Rhythm, Don’t Get Around Much Anymore, Come Sunday, Such Sweet Thunder, and many more.

An originator of big-band jazz, Duke Ellington was an American composer, pianist, bandleader and a major figure in the history of jazz music. His career spanned more than half a century, during which time he composed thousands of songs for the stage, screen and contemporary songbook. He created one of the most distinctive ensemble sounds in Western music and continued to play what he called “American Music” until shortly before his death in 1974.
