On Friday, October 13th, at 12:00 noon in the Program Room of the Sturgis Public Library, we have the opportunity to meet Anh Nyugen Harper, DDS. Dr Harper is an immigrant from Vietnam. She is willing to share her experiences as a child during and after the American presence in Vietnam and her eventual move to Nebraska as a young adult.

Dr. Anh Q. Nguyen Harper was a five year old child when Saigon fell in 1975. Her father, who had worked with the Green Berets, was imprisoned in Hanoi for 8 and 1/2 years. Her mother, a former nurse, struggled to support the family by selling fish. In November 1992, President Bush’s refugee program re-settled them in Hastings, Nebraska. Dr. Anh attended dental school, married, and now has a practice with Ray Dental Group in Rapid City.
